Dan & Helen’s Pennine Adventure

Post by kancutlawns »

Anyone watched this no doubt typically rip roaring, hard drinking, risquè, bawdy and no holds barred travelogue extravaganza from the dreary, well meaning crybaby and a former Blue Peter presenter?

Probably crawling around Ambleside in motorised commodes sipping Dandelion and Burdock in plastic thimbles and singing I’ve Got a Brand New Combine Harvester and with knitted tank tops.

Helen Skelton looks a good laugh to me.
Bet she enjoys a drink or two and a good time on the quiet

In the main travel presenters are shite. Most if them try and make the programme about them and what they want to do. The worst is Susan Calman and Walker and Skelton were very good in comparison imo.

I found the blue John mine interesting because when I was at school we went there on a geography field trip.

Who watches this shite? The overarching question was to ask who had watched it. It’s in the very first paragraph.

Have to admit to watching a lot of travel programmes, most if which are impacted by poor presenters like Calman, Wallace, Fogle, and Mcdonald etc. Portillo is excellent however, and wish he did more.

The " overarching" opening post was overarching mince, to be fair.

I don't think so. I understand why people watch ordinary people's travel vlogs—there are actually some good YouTube channels now—but two boring has-been celebs? Nah, I'll pass.

I think the Spanish socialista Portillo was asked on Desert Island disks who puts his wardrobe together and he answered...

"No one I just buy what I like and throw it together."

No shit Mickey, he does carry it off tbf.

I found the blue John mine interesting because when I was at school we went there on a geography field trip.
I did too. But I was one of the teachers, so we got free teas afterwards.
On the hills behing the mine one of the lads found a very small rock fragment covered with fluospar crystals. But not common or garden Blue John, but all clear with thin blue lines around easch crystal face. Never seen anything like it before or since.
When we got back to the minibus I asked to have another look at the crystals .
"I threw it away because it was too heavy to carry."

Our field trips were around Dovedale and I'm sure we went to a cavern where the blue john came from called Castleton.
