Cricket World Cup 2023

Post by Carlos J »

Another epic tourney starts today with the final on November 19. Though I do like the format of a round robin group stage then semis and final.

First up is a repeat of the superb 2019 final with England v NZ in front of a smattering of spectators in the massive Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

Again, a benefit of convalescence is I can watch when I want.

England 30/0 having survived a review.

I just heard one of your favorites Sam Ellard reporting in, what happened to your other favorite simple Sam Stevens Ross's overnight producer/presenter? Tuned in a few times very late to hear some other misfits so seems he's gone elsewhere.

Yeah, dull Sam Ellard does a lot of cricket reporting and any old shite they can find for him, like a junior Johnny Norman.

As for simple Sam Stevens, yeah seems to have wandered off somewhere, maybe the lure of the stage and am-dram got to him. Still got the job on his TwitX byline: https://twitter.com/SamStevens71

They need to sort the order out, Ali going in before Buttler and Livingstone is a joke.

England 282/9. Never really got going. A reachable target for NZ.

A few local Brits and Kiwis there or a very early holiday for some.

They were wondering why the hosts aren't opening saying it would be fairly full if India had played.

Actually it's probably about 5x fuller than when it started with the evening crowd coming in.

Ton up for NZ in 12.1 overs. 100/1.Going along nicely.

A good old-fashioned beating for England. NZ made 283/1 in 36.2 overs with both batsmen in making a ton.

The faster wood bowled, the quicker it sailed over the boundary. Get rid of the glory boys and let's have some good ol' fashioned Boycott mentality. For 2-3 balls at least.

Pakistan batting v Netherlands in front of another bumper crowd in Hyderabad. Probably less than a thousand present.

Spookily, ant, simple Sam Stevens was sadly for him on with Shebahn ths morning. Don't think he was with M Cat Ross.

Pakistan got 286 all out again below par. See what Netherlands can do. Started ok, 20/0 after 4 overs.
