New Beatles song

Post by JudgeTedd »

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Too plodding to have any lasting affect. All the musos and hipsters will no doubt think it’s the best thing to happen to music since the last best thing to happen to music.

It's pretty good. What astonishes me about The Beatles is how contemporary they sound, even now.

I'm not a huge Beatles fan, but I think some of their songs are genius. Strawberry Fields, In My Life, Girl; pretty much the entirety of the White album and Abbey Road.

I couldn't disagree more. The Beatles were incredibly talented and ahead of their time, inspiring generations of musicians, from punk icons like Iggy and the Stooges to pop groups such as The Carpenters. I doubt there's a country that hasn't heard of them, with the exception, perhaps, of North Korea. Few bands achieve such a global cultural significance.

The Beatles aside, there's still loads of worthy new talent out there, like this chick from the East End:

And, of course, the queen herself, Weyes Blood. Her voice is one of the most beautiful of our (millennial) generation, imo:

This is a 12 year old cover of a song released yesterday……. and it sounds better.

I like it but it’s not really the product of a working band.

Went to see Paul McCartney last week and really enjoyed the overall show minus the songs from Wings.

I suspect that this is for Hipsters that weren't even born then, and who tell the rest of us about a group called "The Beatles" that no-one else has ever heard of.

I love all these "previously unreleased" tracks, dug up from the last scrapings of the Apple barrel. Maybe there's a reason they didn't get released at the time :-)

"The Beatles, are they all that?"
If I could get lucky I'd secede from the states

Funnily enough, there was supposed to be three new songs released with the Anthology back in the 90’s. Only George Harrison vetoed the last song as he thought it was crap.

This release is a triumph for technology more than anything else. How this can be called a Beatles track is a bit of a stretch. Their magic came via the fact they’d bounce ideas off each other, as anyone who has watched the brilliant Get Back documentary will have seen.
