Exactly. But, apparently, it's "racist" to even question it.

Starmer has said he will build 1.5m new homes over the next parliament (of course he's going to win).
I don't doo sums but I think that works out at about half the number of people coming in each year, and those will be homes for sale, so, unless the newcomers can afford to buy, we are back at square 1, aren't we?
If the London Borough of Barnet isn't in London where is it?

1.5 million homes — um, where? Literally where? By "homes" he means those soulless, tiny ticky-tacky box concrete jungles. Rabbit hutch living disguised as luxury apartments. They're everywhere now, like a plague. Ballard's High Rise.

And how much will these "homes" cost? In London, four-hundred to six-hundred thousand minimum. Ridiculous.

I presume that the majority of the 1.5 million homes won't be in London, and therefore much cheaper.

And "much cheaper" is relative. For example, 210,000 (and rising) for a 70s build in the South West is much cheaper than my rabbit hutch apartment in London but the price is still ridiculously expensive.

Have they?
House prices haven't shot up massively over the past year or two.

This site says that in the 12-month period to Sept this year, the annual house price change has fallen slightly:
https://moneytothemasses.com/owning-a-h ... use-prices

Rightmove says prices are likely to fall slightly next year:
https://www.theguardian.com/money/2023/ ... -rightmove

This Times story says prices will fall by even more:

Yep, they have. "Slightly" is hardly a significant change.

This is true.

I recently had a valuation done on my cave and they offered me five deer pelts and a set of mammoth tusks. I only paid a bag of rabbits ears for it not three years ago.

+1

I thought I spotted you talking to property manager Hengist Pod a few weeks back. Did he give you a square wheel as part of the consultation?
