Open water swimming

Post by Vespa »

I can't do it anymore but open water swimming is good fun and you meet nice people. Official spots that are tested and have facilities is a great idea.

Mental idea.

Not worried about the cold but I‘ll be bollocksed if I’m going to be a tasty treat for the Loch Ness Monster.

On the contrary the thermal stress is supposed to be good for your constitution and well being, maybe the geordies are onto something going to sub zero matches in just a football shirt.

Honestly, I thought it was mostly for menopausal women needing to boil off some heat.

My concern would be pollution.

That was the point I was making. All the run off from farmers fields goes into streams and rivers .

It's not conducive to health to swim in the waterways and offshore of this country. It can also disturb wildlife needlessly.

As per the original post, you'd pick a location that's monitored.

Not for me though, the only swimming I like is in a warm salty sea with flippers.

Benefit of this scheme is they test the water, I have picked up the odd infection doing it but it's no worst than swimming pools

Indoor swimming pools are a nest of infection. Have often picked up viruses from them, and they have reduced amount of chlorine in the water. Don't go now.
