Because they're far removed from the environment that they comment on. They have the right to comment but it'll always be open to ridicule.

Only by people that disagree with them, You and Sunbeam and a few others are far removed from the United States, but it doesn't stop you all pontificating about what is happening in the USA, what is the difference??

Personally, I don't see why any comments should be open to ridicule, just because it relates to what is going on in another country, particularly from those who are doing it are from that country.

Littlejohn and Neil are paid professionals in journalism whose literature is widely available to the public, so they have a particular care of duty to be more familiar with their subject matter.

It's rather different than posting content on a random Internet message board.

Not the same principle. Neil and Littlejohn have professional commitments to fulfil. Internet message board posters don't.

So the ridicule for the former holds greater weight. People on forums can ridicule each other as much as they intend anyway, but it's a different game when it comes to the field of journalism. Journalists are held to higher standards and can expect derision when they fall short of them.
