Was that old Brian Moore commentating? Said it perfectly, Cannigia...hurdles past one.......gets past another.....in goes Massing oh he won't get past that challenge.

One of the most memorable matches I have ever watched and it’s thirty years ago. Argentina weren’t averse to kicking lumps out of their opponents in that WC though. They were pretty disgraceful in a terrible final against West Germany. Diego was snarling at the national anthem being booed and two of his teammates were sent off although Jurgen did his dying swan routine to get the penalty then Mattheus put away with aplomb to put us out of our misery.

Good tournament though apart from Gazza’s tears was known for controversy, and the most unsavoury bit was Rijkaard’s spitting on Voller. Voller got bullied by a swarm of Dutchmen and this was nearly replicated when in 2003 when Van Nistelrooy was besieged by the entire Arsenal side having missed a dubious penalty but that was more out of relief than venom and aggression.
