I'm reading a book called ''Making Sense Of The Troubles'' about Northern Ireland.
I still find it mad that British (and/or Irish) people called it 'The Troubles' - thousands of people died and were injured. Suppose that's our nature - don't talk yourself up.

Re: Currently Reading
It is, Kevin, self-deprecation and I am glad for it. Leave over-egging and bluster to others. See below:
You did, Roddy, but charity shops are the heaven and hell for any bibliophile.
I come out with so much shit that will never read for a few pence let alone pounds. Mostly schlock thrillers for easy reading but always quality to find. And cookbooks.
Did an Amazon spree last week and this arrived so will start tomorrow. Oborne, huh, I thought, but the reviews are mostly good so will see:
And got this, Kevin:

I got The Chess Man by Peter May,Raw Spirit by Ian Banks,The Defence of the Realm by Christopher Andrew,Persian Fire by Tom Holland for under £20.

It is, Carlos. I quite like that that we don't talk ourselves up although not sure about the constant down-trodden, negativity that a lot of British people have, but there is lots to like.
That book looks interesting (not the cricket one

May have to read this one.
We do like an understatement don't we?
My dad served alongside special forces in the jungle during "The Malayan Emergency". I'm surprised we called The Falklands a "war" actually!
I might have done one - not sure but possible.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Avery is a bellend, his political pontificating and pro EU rantings are quite frankly embarrassing. He claims without the EU to protect our enviroment (yes really) conservation will be difficult if not impossible.
This the same EU that has allowed mass slaughter of migratory birds unabated in southern europe by two of its members, namely Malta and Cyprus.
Like i said Mark Avery is a bellend.
