I'm not keen on Southgate as a manager. Far too pragmatic at times and I still haven't really forgiven him for the Euros final, which we should have won against the worst Italian side in years.
But I genuinely don't think there's anyone better out there to replace him with right now. It should be an Englishman - anyone wanting Tuchel, Pocchetino etc miss the point of international football. It'd be a mercenary move like with Sven and Capello. Graham Potter and Eddie Howe are the two obvious choices, but neither are likely going anywhere right now. Gerrard, Lampard etc? No thanks.
It might be best to keep him in his post until the Euros and see where the land lies afterwards.
Have the "we want an English bloke in charge!" press finally realised Brendan Rodgers isn't English? Moot point now but genuinely odd to hear them trying to justify appointing him.
