i left vegas, drove to joshua tree national park, and then to the town of joshua tree
didn't see bono
Any piccies?
Yes....most crap but cali coast with waves, plus i literally stumbled over a sand dune to a freshly beached fishing boat, so good pics of that, the coast from hotel in vegas and of my van on the salt flats near bonneville
U2 were only ever interesting between Achtung Baby and Zooropa. Outside of that they were either cosplaying as Americans or just too annoying to kill off.

rattle and hum, rot set in with self belief and attitude
achtung baby...still decent, too
zooropa....losing direction
after that....pish
to be fair, pumping out relevant good tunes for decades, when the comparison is with your early stuff, is not easy
Their stuff until 1991 was flawless. Added to the first and third albums, their albums in their early years like Boy, Under A Blood Red Sky, War and The Unforgettable Fire were peerless.

Feck I'm an old cnut. Saw them @ Brixon Academy on the Unforgettable Fire tour circa 85.
Fantastic group back then. Didn’t have anywhere the level of popularity they picked up in the 1990s. I found The Fly to be an horrendous racket. Thought they went too broad at that time. Beautiful Day and The Sweetest Thing were pretty good and a diversion but Bono showed his true ability with Luciano with the deeply moving Miss Sarajevo. An immaculate tune full of emotion. Captured the Balkans conflict superbly.
Yes they were, that's really interesting. I always think of Pav's daliances as a twee indulgence but then I read that Bono quite happily listens back to Miss Sarajevo as one of his proudest all times favorites.
