Thanks Antantdad wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:54 pm I don't know what the answer is, for the first time they actually checked my penalty record and it cost me another £150 after they found out I had 3pts and I've had no claims for over 30 years. Pick the lowest insurance band vehicle, grab a few registrations from the AutoTrader website and test a few comparison websites.

What about the environment tho
I pay £103 a year for my 1978 Ford Escort Mexico ,but that classic insurance limits me to 1500 miles a year.
If you drive a non-compliant vehicle in London you now pay for the privilage. He'll have to pay ULEZ like I'm happy to but that'll be prohibative if he uses the car everyday which is the point.
I don’t drive... yet. And already I'm dreading all this shite. The language alone is enough to drive people insane (don't excuse the pun.) 'Non-compliant.' 'Privileged cars.' 'YOU LES.'
I'm not feeling the benefit of your sacrifice, Ant.
How do you think I made it to 49 claim free years? By being a careful, sensible driver.antdad wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 8:07 pmYou're eighty years old, get off the flipping road!!??VeritasVincit wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 8:03 pm I've had 49 claim free years and it still keeps going up.![]()
He should invest in a bicycle. It's cleaner than a car and is a fraction of the cost. Plus there's no insurance involved.chelseachelsea wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 7:24 pm My youngest son aged 19 passed his test 2 weeks ago, he's seen plenty of cars he can afford to buy, but the cheapest insurance has been around £5K with black box or app checking driving behaviour and mileage, or it's £8k+
He is working full time but on minimum wage, don't know how we can get around it and help him, since passing his test he's over eager to drive.
