Bergerac

Post by theleader82 »

A new series of Bergerac starts later in the month. Could be good. I remember watching the repeats when I was younger. A bit lazy rehashing old series.

Remember the original series with John Nettles in the lead role 1981-91

Isn't Bergerac now a black one legged lesbian Muslim?

Stars Damien Molony and Zoë Wanamaker, whoever they are.

BlackLight TV during the sit-down lunch: Hi, Zoë! Wanamaker crappy remake of Bergerac?

You could say for what passes as entertainment on the idiot box these days. The rot started when Maureen Rees become a star by not being able to drive.

I once saw the new Bergerac (Damien Molony) in a play called The Body of an American. It was in a really weird, very small space where there was just one row of seats along each wall and they acted in the middle of it. There were only 2 of them and they each played several characters , they were so close you could probably reach out and touch them. At one point he was right in front of me and the play required him to cry at that point and he managed to produce real tears on demand, it was quite the most extraordinary thing I've seen. I'm not a big fan of the theatre I'd much rather see a film, but I have to say it was an incredible experience which I haven't forgotten and he's a very accomplished actor, who whilst I'm sure he's glad he's got the work deserves to be in a position where he's picking up an oscar for something.

Sounds interesting, Colin. A couple of years before Covid I saw a production of 'A Clockwork Orange' at Park Theatre, Finsbury Park with a similar seating plan on 3 sides so same as yours you could almost touch the actors. It was an all male cast and it was very good. Review from err Attitude: https://www.attitude.co.uk/culture/film ... re-291785/
