The Taliban were the rulers of Afghanistan at the point of the ill-fated US led occupation. It stands to reason that they would return to power after waging a successful war of independence against it.

The Taliban are rebuilding Afghanistan (thanks to the kit kindly donated to them by American and British tax payers). If we cared about afghan women we'd never have sponsored the Taliban's Mujahadeen forebearers in the 1980s. But you carry on shedding your crocodile tears for Afghan women.

Today's the day that the NI assembly in Stormont reconvenes after a 2 year hiatus.

For the first time, a nationalist politician, Sinn Fein's Michelle O'Neill, will take the role of first minister of Northern Ireland.

In a legislative assembly in a nation that was created to keep irish nationalism down and out this is a majorly significant change of fortune. Even 10 years ago the thought of a Sinn Fein first minister was a very remote one.

Looks like Sinn Fein will be the largest party in Ireland this year. Smells like a border poll maybe in the offing.

I think it's a done deal, there will be no Northern Ireland in a few years, just an Ireland.....just not sure how united they will be....yet again.

Ireland is a known entity the vote can't be far of.

Sinn Fein, despite their rhetoric, are patiently awaiting the 2031 census in Northern Ireland to see how far the demographic weight favours them . Would be risky to ask for a sovereignty referendum too soon.

They will certainly wait a few years to while the UK government continue to throw money across the sea.
