This weird criticism of the elderly by the (presumably) younger generation is bizarre - do they think they (the youngsters) will never get old, or that they get replaced by 'invasion of the body snatcher-type' aliens?
You will be old (best case scenario prevailing) one day you know.

It's not weird Roy, it's typical of the current batch. A large number are selfish, egotistical and self-absorbed. When it comes to the time, they will whining a lot louder than anyone is today about stuff like this.

Although hopefully when I'm 75 I won't be a complete cunt who'll happily vote for people to literally starve to death or commit suicide and only think things have gone too far when I'm finally asked to pay a relatively very small fee. That kind of disgusting attitude to others only comes after a lifetime of freebies, which that generation never allowed those younger than them to have, happily pulling up the ladder behind them. It's not a criticism of their age, but their mindset. I don't think younger people are in danger of turning into them when they reach that age because they won't have had any of the opportunities to.

Instead of wanting everyone to be equally well-off, they want everyone to be equally poor. :)

Do old people want anyone to be equally well-off? Sitting in family-sized homes all on their own and refusing to shift, voting for cuts left and right to make living just a bit more difficult to anyone who isn't them, not wanting to be equal and pay for the licence fee even though their outgoings are minimal.

"If you want to own a home you must work hard and save for it! Like I did when I bought my house at the age of 18 for £250." They simply want themselves to be well-off at the expense of everyone else.

Still, they're die out sooner or later. The only problem is they'll be replaced by an even more egregious generation: the baby boomers.

I presume (again) that I'm a lot nearer to that age than you, and due to nothing except hard work, I trust I will not be short of the amount required for a tv licence should I get that far, - not that I would buy one, given the choice.
Apart from child benefit payments (which were welcome but unnecessary) I've never required state aid of any sort whatsoever, and I would have no problem with free tv licences being means-tested, but of course, I strongly believe that every state payment/benefit should be rigorously means-tested (no doubt your sense of fair play may be tested on that one?)
I am curious though as to what it is you think the older generation has had that the youngsters are being deprived of? I'm assuming it mostly revolves around house prices, - and I accept that when I bought my first house it was roughly 5x my salary at the time, whereas today it's probably more than double that, - but that's a debate worth having by all means.
It doesn't account for the seeming hatred of older people though, - we're mostly just the same pawns in the game as you, but with less time (but arguably more life experience).

Because many elderly are infirm and housebound and yes, disabled, and have enough to contend with merely trying to live, what would you want them to do? Demonstrate in the streets wielding their walking frames as weapons?
Don't forget that many elderly have never and never will vote for the Tories, so your anti Tory stance is pure hot air.

And those same old biddies probably had husbands who provided for them by buy the house in the first place, probably 50 years ago for a few hundred quid, brought up their families in them and never claimed a penny off the state, unlike some of those now who do fuck all but churn out sprogs and hold their hands out for government handouts.

Doubt it, if he spouts such bile on the streets he'll end up as one of those carved up by equally vile mouthed imbeciles.

Great number that, 52,615. hardly representative of the population over 75, many of whom would have had a postal vote and not gone to the polling station, and surveys are, on the whole, a load of tosh, no one gives a truthful answer to any question, so I will treat that survey with the respect it rightly deserves, much like the respect you seem to have for the elderly.

Wonder where that survey was done, if it had been conducted in S Wales it would have shown the exact opposite, in fact, it would have shown that 99% of the over 75's voted Labour, they have pit pony syndrome in that part of the uk.
