Semi final 1: Tuesday 10th May at 8pm on BBC4.
Semi final 2: Thursday 12th May at 8pm on BBC4. UK can vote in this semi.
Grand final: Saturday 14th May at 8pm on BBC1.

So, onwards. This year gonna go in mostly blind to recreate the old fun of not knowing and first opinion like the majority. Though have listened to Joe and Jake, the UK boys a few times and it ain't great. Better than Molly two years ago, but no Electro Velvet last year. But just bland and never gets where it should go. Can't see Eurofans liking it and getting top 10 with it:

UK always qualifies automatically for financial reasons, ie, we pay a lot of money to be part of it.

Happy for Austria and Czech Republic - both seemed fairly decent songs, nothing special, but a bit catchy.

Croatia is a grower, and originally thought little, but is very catchy and it'll be a fav on Sat maybe.

Azerbaijan, Armenia, Malta - busty women singing not exactly great songs, but lots of ummph. Malta's chorus is especially bad.

Cyprus better than Greece, but not great.

Estonia tend to send decent songs although this was alright, but sung by a Tory looking young-researcher/MP with bizzare moves might have put people off.

Iceland were 1/7 to qualify, I'll never understand that odds though. Song wasn't great, but how Malta got through over this.

Bosnia were doing so well until that awful rap bit.

Montenegro - awful. Just all that type of music is crap. Apologies, Monté if you're listening, wi' the greaaahhest respecht.

Still to hear Jack and John or whoever is representing Etats Kingdom this year.

Top stuff Kevin. Think Joe and Jake will be performing during Semi Final 2 as a new rule about giving the 'big 5' and hosts stage time and practice. Joe and Jake ain't great. Will ponder watching both semis, maybe will relent on friday but like the idea of going blind now.

Yep, since semis were started, same as the rest of the 'big 5' who pay most to the EBU. UK, France, Germany, Spain were the 'big 4', then Italy rejoined to make a 'big 5'. Hosts obviously also qualify automatically for the final. Australia got a free pass last year, boo, but go into the semis this year, still boo.
