Disappearing mobile data

Post by theleader82 »

Over the past week I've had to add 2 mobile data top ups as my data is apparently running out. I have it on wifi at home only use for emails and a little browsing on the web at break times. I don't understand what's eating up all the data. I want to get my money back as each top up costs£6 . I use and iPhone 5s

You sure that mobile data is switched off?
Various apps (weather/email/twitter etc) can gobble up data when you're out and about

Do you have any apps or especially any media apps like tunein or iplayer, theyre data hogs. As sub says theres something eating it up.
Just go into the settiings on your phone and onto apps any see which app is the greediest. Clear data or clear cache on your apps once a week or a fortnight and it should be okay.

I think last week I accidentally watched live video of the snooker on BBC. Sometimes my phone automatically switches to wifi when I'm home, but not always.

That's what's chewing up your data. If you are able to access IE and your mobile data's switched on which it would have to be to allow you to access it on 3 or 4G, if you're on the BBC News website for example, you may accidently press a video and unwittingly use up all your data.

Be very careful what you press. Surfing shouldn't take up much data depending on usage and your pricing plan but you need to not watch your dirty vids on You Porn when you're on your break.

Good luck with getting a refund from the phone company. You signed up to a contract for your phone and that makes you responsible for what you use and what you've purchased.

Why don't you go back to your service provider and ask to review your pricing plan so you have a bigger video allowance? It probably won't cost you that much extra.

Is there no "all you can eat data" plan you can sign up to?

I have my data on all day, even if I'm not using it. would be annoying to have to keep switching on and off.
