Punk rock - Paul Weller remembers 1976 well

He was never a punk.
As the Jam were never a punk band.

He's a bit of a dick, but his love for The Zombies gets him a pass in my book.

Sir Viv spraying the ball across the parched Oval outfield is probably the most enduring and iconic parts of an otherwise forgettable long hot summer. I remember the hot summers of 1983, 1984, 1987, 1995 and 2003 more.

Yes indeed !
Loads of riots and punch ups- chasing Rastafarians round Ladbroke Grove using a dustbin lid as a shield and wielding a truncheon. Yes, there was that getting stabbed a bit thing and the odd anti personnel device at a bus stop, but there were different bits of American crumpet every night , loads of overtime and we still had Brixton and the miners strike to look forward to.

Yes, I was one. In London. When the drought broke, we all stood on our balcony and got soaked, and loved it. So I'm told by my mum.
