What does 'diversity' actually mean? What is the aim? Why are they obsessed with 'diversity'? The reality is we're all diverse. Everything is diverse in some way. I'm ⅜ English, ¼ Irish and ⅛ Scottish, so my heritage is diverse. Where's my representation?

Answer: Nobody cares. Who gives a shit!

It's just to reflect the fact that there are more people in this world than straight white people, and to recognise that there are other races, genders and sexualities in the world, to give a fuller picture of society on our TV screens.

It would take a lot more than that to stop me tuning in for this brilliant television extravaganza. Something like Toadie leaving for example.

Feck, I had to stop watching EastEnders when Ali Osman took over the cafe.

I find it bizarre that there's an assumption that "minorities" –people of colour, gays, lesbians, gays, trans-whatevers – would only be interested in watching something if characters like them are featured.

Well Lambers, if there is less than 98% straight, white and who identify as the gender of their birth, I immediately switch off.

It's not that they'd ONLY be interested in watching characters like them, they are more relatable and often more representative even if it is only the skin colour they have in common.

Why isn't there a pregnant Barbie?

Because Ken came in the wrong box.

No, it was the deeply irritating skinny white bitch of a nag wife Sue.

Not a question of them "only being interested" in watching something if people like them are featured; I suspect it's more that if they do happen to see someone on screen they can relate to, it encourages a more inclusive society rather than a cliquey closed shop.

Tiger Woods is a classic example: golf was seen 100% as a white man's sport; then he came along and encouraged a whole wave of black kids to take an interest in golf.
They may have watched it before, but Woods' success gave them a role model (his extra-curricular activities notwithstanding etc)
