I think if he could've left at the end of the season with a successor in place he would have. Seems to me he was probably forced into it because it's difficult for others who know to keep quiet. I'd be surprised if this doesn't affect their season in a detrimental way, can't see how it won't.

It was decided in November and agreed to announce in a few months. But they began to think they couldn't keep the lid on it so would get it under control. Perfectly sensible and nothing whatsoever to do with self-promotion, not least because why would he need to?

After he left Dortmund he was approached by Man U and he talked to them. They just talked about money.
