Re: Spilled tea on laptop
keeps it nice and cool and lets the circuit boards dry off thoroughly

I had a Chromebook that my gf spillt a can of diet coke over. It was sorted. Not sure how. But don't panic.

No, I've just left it alone for the moment using a mini wireless keyboard instead but a lot of the keys have come back anyway after drying off. Don't think the fridge did much tbh but's then it's fairly crammed. Will get some electrical contact cleaner and blast those keys that are probably are still malfunctioning in a day or two.

just leave it, youve just got some circuit boards damp is all, theyll dry out.antdad wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 11:36 amNo, I've just left it alone for the moment using a mini wireless keyboard instead but a lot of the keys have come back anyway after drying off. Re: Spilled tea on laptop
It's too late now, but next time you spill your drink on a keyboard turn the keyboard upside down as quick as possible to let as much of the water as possible drip off it. People recommend using rice to absorb the moisture, not sure if you're supposed to put it on the outside or open it up and put the rice on the circuit board - if you do, just make sure to clean it all off again before powering it up or you'll get fried rice.

I agree about turning it over. Worth running a q tip in the gaps between the keys.
Not sure about the fridge advice because a fridge has moisture.
if you have an airing cupboard that's a good choice. Put on shelf and leave it open and upside down.

Re: Spilled tea on laptop
Turned it upside down immediately to drip dry. Fridge didn't seem to work because as you say it's fairly damp or at least mine is. Waited a couple of weeks and still some important keys were still playing up. Used a mini wireless keyboard for a while, still no joy. Blasted it with contact cleaner, still no joy so bought a replacement keyboard for a tenner or so.
