I haven't reached the point yet but HMRC have sent me a letter which suddenly lifted all the ills from my life.
When I hit 80 next year, my pension will be increased by a whole .25p per week.

Unless the state pension is more that the PA which it currently isn't it's tax free. It of course counts towards personal income, so if VVs total personal income is more than the PA, then we will pay tax at 20% on anything over it.Sunbeam Alpine wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 9:31 pmNoZambo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 3:15 pmWhat are you complaining about, it's tax free isn't it!?VeritasVincit wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 1:34 pm I just felt I had to share my news with the world.

So what you mean is that it is not taxed at source.Zambo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 8:07 amUnless the state pension is more that the PA which it currently isn't it's tax free. Re: Great News
It's the height of pedantism Sid.
You get confirmation of your PA, less State Pension, which gives you a tax code. You can earn that amount without paying any tax, so if you are like VV, you start paying tax when you earn above the difference between your PA and your State Pension. So you are not taxed on your State Pension.
Mind you, if these arseholes keep the PA what it is beyond 2026, the State Pension could well rise above the PA.
