The morning after ... I listened to "just the songs" on the radio, and I can't remember any of them, not even the winner.
I think it's judged now on visual impact. Good luck to them, if that's what you have to do to win; if that's what people remember, but I can't help but feel we've lost something from the days when they had to stand, alone on a stage, and just sing.

Another thing: once upon a time the very idea of linking all of Europe by TV was a novelty in itself, so why not celebrate this technological achievement by having a song-contest? That's why people tuned in. What? You can see someone LIVE in Oslo giving the Norwegian vote and then someone LIVE in Madrid giving the Spanish vote? What will they think of next?

Now it's nothing to see your mate in Ulan Batur Instagramming his dinner, so the novelty of seeing anything from Abroad has somewhat dissipated.

According to the D Tel, here's "Bambie Thug's" complaints about the Israeli commentary:

"Thug, who has been outspoken about holding pro-Palestine views, accused the Israeli broadcaster Kan of breaking rules.
The 31-year-old claims to have been waiting to hear back from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) over what action would be taken.
It comes after a commentator for Kan covering the semi-final broadcast on Tuesday described the Irish offering as “scary” and “Satanic”.
The commentator said the performance of the song Doomsday Blue would be “the most scary” of the night, involving “a lot of spells and black magic and dark clothing, Satanic symbols, and voodoo dolls”.
