Exactly what is it? Does it mean additive, or can it mean something else.
Thanks.

Re: Fuel Treatment
Additives.
RedX and shit like that.
Don't work.
Just put premium fuel in if its petrol.
If its Diesel you shouldn't need them.

Cheers, it's petrol. Just had car serviced and it was an advisory item. Only a tenner, but if it's not worth it won't bother.Sid Pervcat wrote:Additives.

Re: Fuel Treatment
Nah.
Just put half a tank of shell V Power in next time you fill up.
It has the same additives as the "fuel treatment"

Re: Fuel Treatment
I was told by a mechanic recently that there is quite a difference between the fuels sold at various pumps.
It's tempting to put the cheapest in which is usually one of the big supermarkets thinking they're all the same. Apparently they aren't
HE advised BP or Shell but definitely not ASDA which is apparently the worst.
I did check it out to some degree and for Petrol it's the octane rating but for Diesel it's a cetane rating. A higher rating for wither is supposed to get more MPG and thus render the savings at supermarkets redundant.
They also put additives in that aren't there in cheapo brands.
In the mid 2000's I bought a fucking tanker full of cheap derv as I has a good few vans on the road back then. It fucked every single engine up in every van. Thee was apparently no additives in it at all and the MPG wasn't that good either.
I've stopped using the really cheap stuff these days and am monitoring the MPG etc.
I've not got any figures to hand but on first sight I'm getting better results from the named brands.

Re: Fuel Treatment
...that must've some shit fuel to fuck up your oil burners.
As mentioned the premium fuel has the additive, it does make a difference so it just depends how you want to pay for it...out of the pump or the bottle. I use Millers additive for my diesel, better mpg, throttle response, smoother, far less smoke etc.

Yes it was. Fuck knows what it was but it came in pretty damn cheap if you exclude the cost of all the engine damage.antdad wrote:...that must've some shit fuel to fuck up your oil burners.

Re: Fuel Treatment
I put shell v power diesel in my Jag XF, it doesn't feel any different from the cheapo tesco stuff and costs 10p a litre more but because im loaded i can afford it.

I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895
